ASB Sports Centre is a world class sports facility featuring 12 indoor courts, meeting rooms and fixed seating for up to 1000 people. Prominently located on Evans Bay, the $47.5 million project was constructed to provide the public with quality facilities for a variety of indoor sports, including netball, basketball and volleyball.

The combination of long span, exposed harbour location, and very high winds made this a very technical project.

The roof structure consists of 46 metre bow trusses supported by tapering elliptical columns.

Due to the difficulty of transporting such long trusses, they were fabricated in smaller components and welded together on site.

Installation required two cranes simultaneously lifting the trusses into place due to the length of the span.
